Carts of Darkness

“In the picture-postcard community of North Vancouver, filmmaker Murray Siple follows men who have turned bottle-picking, their primary source of income, into the extreme sport of shopping cart racing.

Enduring hardships from everyday life on the streets of Vancouver, this sub-culture depicts street life as much more than stereotypes portrayed in mainstream media. The films takes a deep look into the lives of the men who race carts, the adversity they face, and the appeal of cart racing despite the risk.

This film deals with mature subject matter.  Viewer discretion is advised.

2009

It was a great year.  I traveled more this year than any other in my life, spent lots of time with my family and friends, went on countless mountain bike rides, did some hiking in southern BC, and much more.  I loved the absolute freedom. I looked forward to every morning, especially Monday mornings. The year went by incredibly fast.  It felt like a long weekend.

If you are considering taking some time off to follow your passions, go for it.  We tend to put off doing fun things because we mistakenly believe we’ll have time for them later. But there can be benefits to taking time off now.

Have a happy 2010!
