I just registered for the Test of Metal on June 20, 2009. Registration opened at 6pm today. In past years it has sold out in a few hours.
The Test of Metal is an annual 67 km mountain bike race in Squamish, B.C. with some up and down. I did the race once in 2002. It’s surprisingly fun with thousands of people coming out to cheer you on and a host of volunteers handing you water and snacks throughout the course.
So now I’m committed to doing it again in 2009 which probably means more exercise and less pie between now and June. Well more exercise at least.
The race starts off fairly fast…
…but it can slow down a bit if it’s muddy:

I have one New Year’s resolution: to maintain this blog for 2009 so family and friends that are curious can follow my adventures during my “sabbatical” (the term my sister used to describe my year off to travel).
There is snow on the ground on New Year’s Day in Vancouver — a bit of shock right after mountain biking in shorts in the hills around Westlake Village, CA.
